As I already created a skincare list, I figured it was time to create a makeup list, too.
My all-time favourite makeup products, listed by category.
Skin Tints and Tinted Moisturiser
I am been an avid wearer of tinted moisturisers for many years, which started when I lived overseas as I couldn’t hack full or even medium coverage in the heat. I have tried many tinted moisturisers and skin tints, but these are my all-time favourites. For the natural lightweight coverage, for the glow, for hydration.
Foundation
I briefly considered breaking this category down by coverage level, but I don’t think there’s any point as all provide medium coverage at a minimum, with two that I’d consider full coverage (Nars and Sculpted Satin Silk). All the foundations I use and love have the same qualities; they look like skin, don’t feel heavy, blend beautifully and last more than a couple of hours.
Concealer and Corrector
Some of my most-used concealers at the moment are Beauty Pie Corrector, 16 Hour Camo Concealer from E.L.F. Cosmetics and Huda Beauty Faux Filter. I like all three because they cover very well and because they last. Jouer is slightly different than the others as it dries down to a more matte finish – perfect for nights out.
Brows
I use these products mainly to add natural looking flicks at the front of the brows as I have very little hair in that area. Hands down, Glossier Brow Flick is the best for this. I’ve lost count of how many times I have repurchased it. Saying that, I also love Benefit Precisely My Brow for defining the shape and adding thickness throughout the body of the brow.
Eyeshadow
Mascara
No, you’re not seeing things. There is a grand total of four mascaras in this category! I am very picky about mascaras and loathe to recommend any that are not essentially award-winning. L’Oreal Lash Paradise is my longest and oldest love – a lash thickening and lengthening wonder that I have been using since first hit shelves nearly five years ago. Second to this is Sculpted by Aimee My Mascara, Charlotte Tilbury Big Fat Lashes and Iconic London Triple Threat Mascara. All standouts.
Eyeliner
Blush
I like cream blush and I cannot lie. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few powder blushes I love and I’ll probably add them in here at some point, but cream blush is the one. It makes me feel fresh, it makes my skin look great, and it takes about 12 seconds to apply. Win.
Bronzer
Highlight
Lipstick
Nudes are (generally) not for me. The most natural lip you’ll see my wearing is Pink Pair from Sculpted by Aimee, a gorgeous natural peachy pink. After that it’s drama all the way; I love blue-toned reds, rich berry shades, electric neon pinks, and the occasional orange.
Finishing Spray
Again, there’s only two products in this category. I haven’t tried many finishing sprays but both of these are standouts for setting and holding makeup in place (Iconic London’s version adds major glow too, FYI).
