Rimmel Stay Matte & Match Perfection

I received the above products from Rimmel this week; Stay Matte Foundation and Match Perfection Compact Powder. I don’t actually use a lot of Rimmel products, which is quite funny considering I refused to use anything else from the ages of 13-16! Coffee Shimmer lipstick anyone??
Since moving to warmer climes nearly 3 years ago, a decent mattifying foundation has become a must, especially as I have combination to oily skin. I used to swear by Make Up For Ever Mattifying Foundation for a while but it has since moved to the back of the drawer as I am finding it quite drying. So, as a result I was interested to try this out.
Rimmel Stay Matte has a nice light and creamy consistency and provides medium to full coverage. It goes on beautifully and blends out so well. What I was surprised and pleased to discover is that you can blend and blend and it doesn’t cake or become dry on the skin. I wore it all day and was impressed with the staying power, especially in 34 degree heat.
I actually can’t believe it is a Rimmel foundation to be honest, its really really good and so cheap!
I tried Match Perfection also, over Stay Matte for an extra bit of coverage. The consistency, coverage and texture of the powder reminds me exactly of MAC Select Pressed Powder. Its lovely and soft on the skin and provides great coverage. I think this will end up in my hand bag when I finish off my MAC Select Pressed Powder.
Does anyone else think Rimmel have really upped their game of late? There are a lot of positive reviews for their foundations at the moment.

    >I haven't tried any of the Rimmel foundations yet but I have the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer and Highlighter and I really love it for under the eyes as it brightens the under eye while concealing any dark circles. Thanks for sharing this 🙂

    >Like you Rimmel reminds me of being 14 again, infact with most high street chemist sort of brands I am a bit of a snob in that respect, mainly it is the busy, bright, loud packaging which makes me want to go and lie down in a darkened room rather that purchase, now where's my zimmer frame! >Great post, I have to say that i have not used a Rimmel foundation since i was about 13. But this sounds like something i will have to try, especially the powder if its as good as you say. The only one thing i have consistently purchased from Rimmel over the years, is their special eyes black eyeliner, i love it.

    >The snob in me feels quite reluctant to use drugstore foundations and powders. But I might give the powder a go, who knows? 😀

    >I actually really like the feel and consistancy of their foundations, especially at the price. However, their lightest foundations (which I would use as I am very fair skinned) are ALWAYS too dark for my skin and I find that extremely frustrating. I actually have Stay Matte but just had to give it up as I'd have to blend it down over my chest to get the colour to look natural! It's strange that in the UK the choice for very fair skinned people is so limited, in fact I have never got a perfect match foundation, even in higher end brands!

    >I've got Match Perfect powder and the foundation. I struggled with the foundation, mainly I think, because I was using a primer and then applying the foundation with a brush (I don't really know what I'm doing), and it just kept looking a bit streaky, and always left me shiny!

The powder on the other hand was fab. Made my fave beautifully matte in no time, and is really good on it's own. Considering I feel like I've only had it 5 seconds, I've already 'hit pan' on it – which says everything about how much I've used it. A fab product, that I kind of can't live without!

    >I think I still have a Coffee Shimmer lippie knocking around in my collection – true!

I haven't tried Rimmel foundations, in fact I haven't tried drugstore foundations, I can never find a match for me 🙁

I think myfacecosmetics may be the one though, I'm hoping to pick that up with some Boots points very soon, been after it for ages.

Great to know your thought on this, thanks 🙂

    >Thanks for all the input ladies, funny isn't it that we all associate Rimmel with being teenagers!
What you are getting for the money you are paying is fab value, but I agree with Ze that there are not enough shades available as of yet.

Steph – what's your skin type? xx

[…] The formula of the actual powder is interesting. Slightly heavier then MAC MSF but lighter then Rimmel Match Perfection and really quite mattifying but in a very subtle way. It’s buttery soft to the touch and […]

I’ve worn this all day and I really like it so far, however I still experienced some oily-ness, not sure whether it’s just the humidity at the moment!
