I picked up a few new beauty bits lately, some are ‘highly recommend’ and some fall into the category of ‘meh’.
I recently discovered that Cult Beauty ship to the Middle East. How I have only come across this information in the last couple of weeks is beyond me. I can’t help thinking about all the stuff (I probably don’t need) that I might have missed out on!
Anyway, I was browsing Cult Beauty purely to stock up on some Oskia Skincare products when I clocked the new line of blushes from Becca Cosmetics. As a huge fan of their liquid and powder highlighters, the new ‘Luminous Blush’ shades spoke to me – ‘lustrous blushes to let cheeks glow with light.’ Yes please.
The shade I chose is called Camellia and it’s described as a ballerina pink, which I would say is a little bit off the mark. In real-life, it’s a borderline shocking pink and lads, it’s beautiful – a gorgeous light pink shade with a slight sheen to it, which translates beautifully on the skin – not glittery and no chunks of shimmer, I promise.
Here’s a close up shot:
Beautiful, eh?
Spurred on by the success of this purchase I paid a visit to the newly unveiled Becca Cosmetics stand in Sephora, Mall of the Emirates at the weekend with Stacey and Laura.
Mad keen to buy everything, I limited myself to one item as their products are not on the cheap side… I picked up their new pot concealer – Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme in the shade Tahini. I had high hopes for it, considering how thick and creamy it looked in the pot (hello full coverage) but sadly, it’s not that great. It’s just too creamy to be any good, and it doesn’t last. It applies thick and blends nicely, but in a mere matter of minutes it starts disappearing and within an hour there’s no trace of it. Fail.
On the way to the counter to pay for the above booty, I decided to buy another Chanel Vitalumiére Aqua foundation. Reasons: A) It’s a bit of an old favourite B) It’s outrageously hot in Dubai at the moment and my skin is reasonably clear, so I figured it was time for a bit of light coverage action and C) It makes my skin look fresh and slightly dewy (read: not old). Using it again has made me realise how much I really, really love it. If you’re in the market for a new foundation and you want something like and fresh with reasonable coverage (that doesn’t make your skin look crap/old), this is it.
The last thing I picked up with a mini product from Benefit that consists of half Boi-ing (a yellow-toned concealer) and half Watt’s Up (a cream highlighter). I actually love it, and it now lives in my handbag as it’s brilliant for concealing/highlighting on the go.
So, to summarise…
New Becca blush, yes.
Chanel Vitalumiére Foundation, yes.
Becca Pot Concealer, no.
Benefit mini highlighter/concealer duo, yes.
Thank you for reading my ramblings 🙂 If you’ve picked up any new products lately that you highly recommend, let me know!
