Four fab Instagram accounts to follow

It’s Saturday afternoon and I’m a little bit hungover. So here are four fab Instagram accounts to follow, because let’s be honest – it’s officially a hobby now.

“In my spare time I like to read and Instagram” You feel me 🙂

@BLOSSOMINGBIRDS

Anna is a total babe and I’ll be really honest here, I’m a bit of a fangirl. From what I gather from stalking browsing her Instagram, she works in retail and lives in Belfast with her husband and their two adorable kids. Her feed is full of gorgeous shots of family life, interiors and sometimes food and coffee (We could totally be best friends. She likes coffee, I like coffee. We both have kids. Right??).

@SHIVISHIVI

Siobhan is another Irish babe, and actually a very old friend of mine. We used to work together in Spain many moons ago, and I have lots of fond memories of the time we spent together, including 6am bus tours to Alhambra Palace and Siobhan not judging Simone for eating an entire loaf of bread in one sitting because the Atkins diet made Simone go insane. Siobhan lives in Italy with her husband and their ridiculously cute toddler, Paddy. Her feed is gorgeous – pics of family life, travel and interiors, and it’s very arty as she was always a bit cool like that 🙂

@FEEEONAAAA

This wasn’t intentional I swear, but Fiona is also Irish! We went to school together and ended up accidentally living across the road from each other in Bahrain a couple of years ago. How crazy is that? It’s a small world lads 🙂 Anyways, Fiona is fabulous and so is her feed. She works in fashion so she has a great eye – expect lots of beautiful detailed shots of food, interiors and travel, with a good dose of what’s she wearing too 🙂

@JAMEELA.AHLI

I met the lovely Jameela at a coffee event in Dubai last year, and have followed her on Instagram ever since. Her feed is all about perspective – beautiful images of her daily viewpoint, whether it’s drinking a cup of coffee, checking out some artwork or sitting on the side of a mountain taking in the most incredible view. Follow her and you’ll feel inspired, I promise 🙂

And there we have it, four fab Instagram accounts to follow.

You can also follow me, if you don’t already 😉

Who are your favourite Instagrammers? I love finding new people to follow so please share the love and I will duly stalk them. I’m off now to make coffee no. 3 and watch Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom for the 14724th time today.

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

Let’s talk about SPF 🧴 SPF stands for Sun P Let’s talk about SPF 🧴

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor, and is a measure of protection from UV rays.

The sun emits two types of ultraviolet rays; UVA and UVB. When we think about SPF a lot of the time, we think about sunburn on the surface of our skin. This is caused by UVB rays. UVA rays on the other hand, penetrate the skin deeper, and can cause damage on a deeper level; think uneven skin tone, hyper-pigmentation, and sagging skin. UVA rays can also lead to skin cancer.

We’re all familiar with the different levels of SPF available in products in the market; SPF15, 20, 30, and so on. But what do those numbers mean and how much protection do they actually give you?

The number on the tube tells you how long you can stay in the sun while wearing that sunscreen without burning, compared to staying the same amount of time in the sun and not wearing that sunscreen. So, for example, if you apply SPF30, it would take you 30 times longer to burn than if you used no sunscreen.

In terms of blocking the suns rays, an SPF of 15 blocks 93% of UV rays. An SPF of 30 blocks 97%, and an SPF of 50 blocks 98%.

It’s important to remember, however, that no sunscreen can ever block sunburn and associated skin damage completely. Wearing sunscreen is only one part of effective sun protection; stay in the shade, wear a hat, apply sunscreen 😇

I’ve been having a hard time with neck and muscl I’ve been having a hard time with neck and muscle pain the last couple of days. This is something I experience pretty regularly because of chronic anxiety.
My anxiety is mostly physical, and so a ‘flare up’ (as I like to call it) usually looks like one or a mixture of these things:
Neck pain, muscle tension, muscle weakness, headaches, dizziness, brain fog, night terrors, and poor sleep in general.
In the past, it has also showed up as breathlessness, slurred speech, extreme dizziness, tingling in my hands and feet, muscle spasms and heart palpitations.
I have spoken about, and written about, my experience with anxiety many times, and I think it’s important to keep talking about it because so many of us are struggling.
I started taking anxiety medication last year, under guidance from my brilliant GP. It was one of the best decisions I made.
It turned my life around, and helped me - in the words of my GP; ‘start living again.’
This decision was stigmatized by some, which I found interesting. As it had absolutely nothing to do with them.
Of course, medication is not for everyone, and it’s not forever - but it does changes lives. It saves lives.
People who continue to stigmatize medication and mental illness in general, are the problem. Not you.
If you have anxiety or depression, it’s important that you know there is nothing ‘wrong with you’. You are not a lesser person because of it.
You are a person. And you are not alone.
So let’s keep talking about it ❤️
