Garnier micellar water – worth the hype?

Garnier Micellar Water

I rushed to my nearest pharmacy in Ireland on the last day of our holiday to try to track these down.

Such was the chat about them online that I knew I couldn’t leave without bringing them back to Dubai to have a go. So what are they exactly?

Well, Garnier have decided to give Bioderma a run for their money when it comes to their fast-working, cleansing water that’s both effective and gentle on the skin. They’ve released two versions; Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for the face and eyes and Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover.

Having used them both now for almost two weeks I can safely say that I am totally hooked. The Micellar water is equally as effective (and gentle) as Bioderma and although it does the job of removing eye makeup also, the 2 in 1 Express Eye Makeup Remover is rather excellent at breaking down a lot of eye makeup very quickly (including false eyelashes) and it’s super gentle too.

The best bit of course, is the price. The Micellar Water cost me 3.85 euro and the Eye Makeup remover 4.90 euro! Talk about bargaineous. I also heard rumours when I was at home that they were on 3 for 2 in Boots and half price in Penneys!

Someone mentioned on Instagram recently that they were available in Dubai but I have a) yet to find them and  I am b) doubtful that the cheap price translated across the water.

If you’re using them already then well done you, and if not – go and get your hands on them immediately! 🙂

COCONUT OIL! Please let me smudge it all over your face and you will see how it beats the pants off micellar waters. Although I am sure they are nice too…if you like that sort of thing 🙂

Obviously I have serious loyalty to Boots, but I found these in an incredibly competitive local pharmacy for €3.39 (micellar water) and €2.90 (2in1). My skin is going through yet another sensitized phase so I’m sticking to Silcock’s Base/coconut oil and a flannel for cleansing my whole face but I’d definitely agree on the eye makeup removal side of things. I haven’t used Bioderma but I’ve been pining for a good micellar water since my last bottle of Sephora ran out and this is hitting the spot. Now I just have to wait and see if the promised lash conditioning comes good 🙂

So far this is my favourite micellar water, it’s effective yet the most gentlest around the eyes as I find many (including Bioderma) leave my eye area drier.
