Whats In My Zuca Kit – Foundations

At any one time, I carry about 15-20 foundations in my kit. They range from oil-free to gel-based, high definition to firming with some tinted moisturisers thrown in for good measure!

This allows me to choose the finish I want, the best formula for the persons skin type and most importantly, the correct shade. The variety of shades also allows me to mix them together to make other shades.

Although I chop and change what brands and types are in my kit, there are a couple of foundations that remain there at all times, in a selection of shades.

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation – This is a staple in my kit as its fantastic for TV and film work. It provides full coverage whilst still looking like skin and stays put all day! It also lasts quite a while in my kit, as one pump is enough coverage. Additionally, its oil-free so great for mattifying oily skin.

Clarins Lifting & Firming Foundation – This is a fantastic foundation for slightly older skin. It provides medium coverage with a beautiful dewy finish. This is always a big hit with older ladies. It definately gives a lift to skin but not so sure about the firming part!

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation – This has been in my kit since it came out. Its perfect as a slightly more moisturising foundation for drier skin. The coverage is medium-full and gives a lovely polished finish that looks incredibly natural. As its gel based it goes on smoothly and feels and looks very light on the skin, perfect for events and photographic work.

As well as the 3 mentioned, I always have MAC Face & Body in white in my kit. I use this to mix with foundations to both lighten and thin them out.

Coming up in my kit; Primers & Concealers, Eye Products and more!

    >I really struggle to get base/foundation right, it is a pale neck ruddy face combo which is the killer. I stick to TMs but even that is fraught with problems as often the palest shade is too medium and too yellow and the medium, well if I want to look tangoed that is what I would go for – it is helpful to see which brands you re-purchase. Thankyou. Jan x

I recently gor the HD foundation and it's ok actually. Wasn't wowed by it but it's good. I'm intrigued by the Studio Sculpt one. I don't hear a lot of people talk to much about it.
can't wait for your next post.

    >Thanks Ladies!
Blath, there are a couple of ways to lighten the shade of your foundation; Mix it with a foundation you currently use, adding enough until the colour has been brought down sufficiently.

Alternatively, and your best option really, is to mix it with a little bit of white MAC Face & Body. If you don't have this you can also try it with a little bit of sunscreen(non-tinted). Keep in mind though, that this will dilute the texture of the foundation a little making it more sheer.

    Hope that helps.

Are those baby HD foundations I see in there? Where on earth did you find those?! They seem so practical.

Yep they are, they’re actually ‘samples’ would you believe but they’re massive. I get them from the MUFE store usually when I buy a few pieces. They last for ages.
