I’ve been on the hunt for a leather pencil skirt for quite some time. I was harking over the black version of the one above for an absolute age but it was never in my size. I eventually couldn’t take it anymore and bought a similar version, but in pleather, also from Topshop.
I wore it to an event here in Dubai a couple of weeks ago – you can see a pic here. While I like it a lot, it’s not the most easy breezy skirt to wear. What I mean by that is that it’s quite tight and has a tendency to highlight the odd lump and bump, or remnants of a baby belly in my case! So, I continued stalking the Topshop site until the black one restocked in my size. Roll on a few weeks and this delicious orange/sort of light rust shade popped up on the site and I immediately made it mine and forgot about the black.
I have to say, I’m completely in love. It’s incredibly comfortable to wear, very flattering and it moves so beautifully. It’s also lined so it puts a stop to any sweaty action that might take place. I paired it with a cotton blouse from Cotton On this weekend, some leopard print flats by Carvela at ASOS (which are on sale right now) and my trusty Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac.
The husband and I are going out for a Christmas food event this week (I know…Christmas!) so I’m planning to wear it again then. The only thing that I’m in a slight predicament about is what to wear with it. A blouse or shirt is fine, but what else? Maybe a light knit? Suggestions please! π
