Kate Middleton Wedding Makeup – The Verdict

So it seems the rumours were true, Kate did do her own makeup for the big day. I thought I would be horrified by this but in the end, it wasn’t that big of a deal as she did a pretty good job. Yes, I was disappointed that she opted for the same old kohl eyeliner all the way around the eye but what can you do, she stuck with what she knows.
The eye makeup was pretty simple, a lighter toned shadow on the lid and kohl or gel liner smudged around the top lash line, with kohl liner underneath the lower lash line. Beautiful clean skin with a touch of fresh pink blush and matching pink lippy. She also filled in her eyebrows, making them fuller then their usual state.
Looking at her now, if I had done her makeup the only thing I would have done differently would be no kohl liner on the lower waterline and a tiny bit of bright beige/white eyeshadow blended in the corner of the eye to open her eyes a little more.
Regardless, she looked beautiful and didn’t faint/curse/vomit while millions of us watched her live on TV. Bravo!

    >she did look beautiful, suppose she is probably one of those people who just doesnt really like change, and wanted to feel comfy on the day. I agree though, i would not have used kohl eyeliner on her lower lid, i would have used a nice taupe colour, and definitely a brighter colour on inner corner of her eye to brighten them up!!!

    >I think it depended on the lighting a bit, when she arrived first I was like 'Wow, a lot of blusher' – but then on the balcony it looked much softer. I would've preferred a little less liner (or even a brown rather than black), but that's just my personal choice…overall though, she did a pretty good job – brave move! Plus her dress was *phenomenal!! 🙂

    >Was dying to hear your thoughts on this after being glued to the tv on Friday, was all "right old dear" and insisted everyone around me either joined in with oohing and ahhing or just shut the hell up! That said, in my personal and truly non-professional opinion, I was a bit disappointed that she had gone for the kohl under her eye, its aging and much too hard for such a pretty girl and it lining all round her eyes made them look smaller than they are, I agree with everyone that would have gone with a taupe or softer brown rather than that harsh black. I also think she would have looked more regal with a full-on up do rather than the demi-chignon or whatever they have named this particular melange of hair styles. Oh and that tiara needed to be way higher to lift the veil off the end of the poor girls nose, coming into the Abbey she spent the entire time plucking it off her face. Other than that, top job chicken!

    >I was wondering what you would think. Great job if she did it herself and good on her. However, I thought the kohl on the lower lash line was too hard, softer colour blended or none and a flesh colour in the water, would have been lovely, soft and fresh. I also couldn't help thinking someone had gone to town on her eyebrows, I thought they were too heavy and a bit too close to her nose but that's just me being very picky. I agree a soft highlight in the inner corner would have been a nice touch too. At the end of the day, she looked very lovely indeed. x

She had a little bit of help, as you'd probably expect!
